Leigh Hardie's Obligatory Author Blog: Policies

All official sites and accounts can be found in the "Leigh Hardie Official" link list at the side of this blog. If a site is not on this list, then it's not me. Don't be fooled.
I make no promises about replying to any attempt at contacting me. No, it's not anything you did; the fact is that I'm a very disorganized person, and that correspondence in general is not a particular talent of mine.
Comments on this blog are disabled--partly because I don't want to worry about replying or moderating, but mostly because I don't want to risk coming to view the number of comments or hits as a metric of self-worth.

"Free speech" means that the government can't arrest you for something you say. It does not mean that anything you say is immune from criticism, or that any private citizen or entity is obliged to provide you with a platform. Indeed, given that free speech applies to people other than yourself, demanding that you be protected from any backlash that might occur in response is actually a violation of that person's freedom of speech. Sauce for the gander and whatnot.

Expanding on the "not obliged to give you a platform"... well, this site and any other sites/pages I may run are my platforms, and your ability to post direct comments on any page or site run by someone else is a privilege--not a right. If you wish to post a response to something I wrote on your own site, then I have no interest in stopping you from doing so--but I make no promises as to whether or not I'll actually read it.

I reserve the right to pursue the reporting and investigation of any threat of bodily harm toward myself or anyone else.

Commenting is closed on all fiction and world-building posts. Feel free to discuss my content elsewhere, but give credit where credit is due, and please link to the post in question.

I don't know if this will ever be even remotely applicable, but for my own legal protection, I'll just state that I won't be reading any fan fiction based on anything I've written, and that I'll only view fan art under specific circumstances.
THAT SAID: As long as my authorship of the original work is acknowledged, and no one is widely profiting from any fan-created content (I say "widely" because, honestly, I don't see anything wrong with personally commissioned fan art, or selling it on a piece-by-piece level), go wild.

My only demand is that any fan works of a pornographic nature (as in: specifically intended as masturbatory fodder) MUST ONLY FEATURE CONSENTING ADULTS, IN BOTH PRODUCTION AND SCENARIO. If you come across any material that violates this demand (plus the laws of most jurisdictions, and--frankly--basic human decency), take whatever action you can in ensuring that it is removed and that the parties responsible are held accountable for their actions.
